About Us

General Information

Balıkesir is one of the provinces in Türkiye with the highest wind energy potential. For this reason, it ranks among the provinces with the largest number of installed wind power plants in the country. In addition, a significant share of the companies producing the main components of wind power plants such as towers, blades, generators and transformers are located within the boundaries of Balıkesir or in very close proximity to the province.

Furthermore, Balıkesir has substantial solar and geothermal energy potential and possesses a considerable capacity of agricultural and livestock waste suitable for biogas and biomass energy production. As a result of these advantages, the Renewable Energy Research, Development, Application and Research Center was established in 2013. The primary objectives of this Center are to serve as a national training hub for technical personnel in the renewable energy sector, to develop domestic renewable energy technologies, and to design methods and devices aimed at improving energy efficiency and power quality.

To become a leading research and application center in the field of renewable energy at both national and international levels, and to take the lead in the development of sustainable energy technologies, the enhancement of energy efficiency, and the promotion of environmentally friendly solutions.

Mission

To ensure the effective utilization of renewable energy resources through scientific research, technology development, and practical applications; to generate sustainable energy solutions in collaboration with industry, public institutions, and society; and to contribute to the energy transition at regional, national, and global levels by enhancing knowledge through innovative projects and educational activities.
